Grand-Yoff : elle jure avoir accouché d’un mort-né, l’autopsie et son téléphone disent le contraire
A. Ngom, 26, went to the emergency medical service (SAMU) complaining of bleeding and abdominal pain. After being questioned by the medical staff, she stated that she had given birth to a stillborn child. Alerted, the police took her home to Arafat, a neighborhood in Grand-Yoff.
At the scene, the baby was found in a plastic bag thrown in the woman's bedroom trash can. She confessed to having hidden her pregnancy so as not to shame her parents, before swearing that the baby had fallen to the floor during her birth.
Continuing her account to investigators, A. Ngom stated that the newborn continued to cry after its fall, but that it lost its life when she put it in the plastic bag.
According to Libération, which covered the case in its Thursday edition, the autopsy refuted the young woman's version of events. It "revealed that the newborn died of mechanical asphyxiation following strangulation," the newspaper reports.
“Furthermore,” the same source continued, “the analysis of A. Ngom’s phone revealed that she frequently visited websites discussing abortion, in addition to communicating with a mysterious ‘Dr. Ndiaye’, known on the social network TikTok, who explained to her how to have an abortion.”
Libération reports that the accused was brought before the prosecutor's office on Wednesday for infanticide.
