Mbour : il bat sauvagement sa femme devant leur enfant pour un…
In Mbour, a simple case of phone theft escalated into a violent domestic assault. P. Seck, a fisherman by trade, is being prosecuted for stealing a Samsung A05 and for aggravated assault against his wife, L. Dièye.
The incident dates back to December 29th, according to L'Observateur. A shopkeeper in the Falokh neighborhood noticed his phone was missing shortly after P. Seck's visit. Initially, Seck's partner defended him. But the truth came to light when she discovered the phone, along with its easily identifiable case, hidden at their home.
While trying to convince her partner to return the phone, L. Dièye was violently attacked. In front of their child, the husband flew into a rage, beating her severely and threatening to kill her if she dared speak out. Despite her fear and bruised face, the wife decided to break her silence: she alerted the shopkeeper and then filed a complaint with the police. A search of her home confirmed her accusations, with the discovery of the stolen item.
In court, the defendant denied the charges, alleging a conspiracy by his partner who, according to him, "always wanted him in prison." This version of events was firmly rejected by L. Dièye, who remained consistent: "I reported him because he is guilty." The plaintiff sought 50,000 CFA francs in damages, while the prosecution requested that the law be applied.
The court adjourned the case until January 29th for deliberation. In the meantime, P. Seck has been returned to his cell, reports the newspaper of the Future Media Group.
