Thiès : la police démantèle un fumoir de chanvre indien, quatre suspects jugés en flagrant délit
Messrs. M. Dieng, P. Sow, A. Diaby and B. Ndiaye appeared before the court of flagrant offenses of the High Court of Thiès for possession and use of Indian hemp.
According to the case file, police received information indicating the existence of a marijuana smoking room at B. Ndiaye's residence. A raid was carried out on the premises. Law enforcement officers surprised the suspects in a bedroom, in possession of marijuana. They were subsequently arrested and remanded in custody.
In court, all the defendants denied the charges, except for A. Diaby. He stated that the police found him in B. Ndiaye's room while the latter was preparing joints for consumption. He added that it was Mr. Dieng who informed them of the police presence.
A. Diaby also stated that P. Sow was intercepted outside before being taken to the room by the police. He maintained that Mr. Dieng was in possession of a box containing marijuana. However, he clarified that, while they were indeed in possession of the substance, the police did not catch them smoking it.
For his part, P. Sow stated that he was there to conduct exercises. He admitted to having smoked marijuana in the past, but claimed to have stopped a long time ago.
The deputy prosecutor requested the application of the law.
The verdict is expected soon.
