Pont de Rosso : Déthié Fall hausse le ton et fixe un ultimatum pour la livraison du chantier
A Senegalese-Mauritanian delegation led by the Senegalese Minister of Infrastructure, Déthié Fall, visited Rosso, Mauritania, to observe the progress of the Rosso Bridge project, a structuring project intended to strengthen economic integration and mobility between Senegal and Mauritania.
This field mission took place in the presence of the Governor of Saint-Louis, Al Hassan Sall, the Prefect of Dagana, the Sub-Prefect of Ndiaye, and the Mayor of Rosso, Senegal. The delegation was welcomed by the Mauritanian Minister of Equipment and Transport, Ely El Vierick, demonstrating the strategic importance that both countries attach to this regional infrastructure.
The main objective of the visit was to assess the actual level of execution of the work and to make firm commitments with the company in charge of the site, POLY CHANGDO, in order to guarantee compliance with contractual deadlines and the quality of the work.
Following the discussions, Minister Déthié Fall adopted a particularly firm stance. Highlighting the delays observed, he emphasized the need for a thorough reorganization of the construction site, particularly in terms of human resource mobilization, logistics, and material supply.
"Everything will be done by all stakeholders to ensure that the inauguration can take place in March 2027. The company has committed to respecting the contractual delivery deadline set for December 25, 2026," the minister said, adding that monthly video conference monitoring will now be established to ensure close oversight of the progress of the work.
Déthié Fall did not mince words when addressing the contractor, stating that this visit constituted a final warning. "The company has no choice. It must absolutely do everything in its power to complete this project within the agreed timeframe," he insisted.
The Rosso Bridge, once completed, should put an end to long ferry crossings, facilitate trade, and strengthen cooperation between the two countries bordering the Senegal River. This is a major issue for local populations and for sub-regional integration.
