Université de Matam : Déthié Fall salue le niveau d’exécution des travaux et exhorte l’entreprise à accélérer la cadence pour répondre au délai
With the main construction work at a very advanced stage, the Souleymane Niang University project in Matam has progressed significantly. This progress was welcomed by the Minister of Infrastructure following a site visit.
Accompanied by the governor, the director of Ageroute and the technical teams of his ministry, Déthié Fall, in the presence of several administrative and territorial authorities, elected officials, notables and dignitaries, noted the progress noted on the construction site of the Souleymane Niang University.
After reviewing the progress of the construction site in front of the local population and more than 1,800 workers who are working on the site, he urged the company in charge of the work to accelerate the pace by recommending that they increase the workforce and working hours.
"After the structural work phase, we call on the company to redouble its efforts for the construction of the finishing work, which constitutes the most important stage of the project, so that the work is received as planned in October 2026," he said.
Equipped with amphitheaters, laboratories, libraries, digital services, sports and cultural infrastructure, the university, with 27 buildings already built, a completed perimeter wall and a protective dike, has taken shape.
In relation to the progress that has been noted, the minister encouraged all workers, management and technical staff, skilled and multi-skilled workers to join the dynamic of meeting the challenges.
An invitation to which civil engineer Amadou Sékou Nimaga, the company's works coordinator, announced his commitment.
Through an operational strategy, the workers, whose numbers will be increased, will work day and night. Three cohorts will share the activities, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., from 6 p.m. to midnight, and from midnight to 8 a.m., with the instruction to make each building a fully-fledged construction site.
The University of Matam, which aims to strengthen the academic and scientific presence in the region where university offerings have long been lacking, will consist of six campuses. It will offer training in the fields of science and management, engineering, health sciences, as well as in the humanities, social sciences, arts, literature, and agronomy.
