Thiès : Le maçon O. Diamé vole du matériel de construction, le revend pour acheter un plat de "thiébou dieune" et prend un mois ferme
Mason O. Diamé was sentenced to one month in prison. Prosecuted for theft, he was accused of stealing three planks from a construction site in Thiès. Arrested, he was remanded in custody.
In the dock of the Thiès court, the defendant O. Diamé admitted to the facts. He stated that he was drunk at the time of the theft. He then claimed that he stole three planks and sold them for 4,000 FCFA to buy a dish of "tiébou dieune" (fish and rice) and cigarettes.
The plaintiff, T. Guèye, stated that each of these planks cost 15,000 FCFA. He therefore claimed 45,000 FCFA in compensation.
The public prosecutor considered the facts to be consistent and requested the application of the law.
The judge found the defendant guilty of theft and sentenced him to one month in prison and ordered him to pay the plaintiff 45,000 FCFA in damages.
