Affaire Jeffrey Epstein : Charles III retire ses titres au prince Andrew et le contraint à quitter sa résidence royale
King Charles III initiated a "formal process" on Thursday, October 30, 2025, aimed at stripping his brother, Prince Andrew, of his titles and honors because of his links with American financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Buckingham Palace announced.
From this day forward, the disgraced prince will be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the statement said.
Meanwhile, the Duke of York will lose his official residence, the Royal Lodge, located on the Windsor estate. He has been formally notified to terminate his lease and must vacate the premises within the coming weeks. Andrew will move into a private residence on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, approximately 180 km northeast of London.
Aged 65, the second son of the late Queen Elizabeth II had been living in this thirty-room mansion since 2003, alongside his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. The property, which was occupied by the Queen Mother until 2002, also includes a gardener's cottage, six staff cottages, and accommodation for security officers.
Prince Andrew was facing increasing pressure to abandon his residence, particularly after the publication last week of the posthumous memoirs of Virginia Giuffre, Jeffrey Epstein's chief accuser.
