The benchmark Nikkei index surpassed 60,000 points for the first time on Thursday, boosted by technology stocks.

The Tokyo Stock Exchange rose to a record high in early trading on Thursday, with the Nikkei index exceeding 60,000 points for the first time, boosted by technology stocks, while the South Korean Kospi index also reached a new peak.

Around 2:10 a.m. (Paris time), the benchmark Nikkei index was trading flat after climbing to 60,013.98 points shortly after the opening bell. On the Seoul Stock Exchange, the Kospi index has recently been soaring to record highs and reached an unprecedented peak of 6,535 points at Thursday's opening.
