Elle sera la future Première ministre du Royaume-Uni : Boris Johnson parie sur cette Britannique d’origine nigériane

While attending an economic summit in Owerri (a city in Nigeria) yesterday, Thursday, December 4, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson praised the good health of relations between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

"I am very proud of what we export to Nigeria. We send you pharmaceuticals, banking services, car parts, all sorts of things and whisky – huge quantities of whisky," said the former leader of the British Conservative Party.

"You are sending us a future Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in the person of Kemi Badenoch."

He pointed out that his country also receives a great deal from Nigeria. “You send us so much in return: oil and gas; Nollywood films; brilliant doctors and nurses, technicians and technology geniuses. We are very grateful,” Mr. Johnson said. He went on to say that the country of Tinubu is on the verge of providing the United Kingdom with a Prime Minister.

"We send you former Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and you send us a future Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, in the person of Kemi Badenoch, who comes from Nigeria and who has been doing better and better lately," said the New York native.

It is unclear whether the Nigerian-born politician will succeed in leading the British government, but she is certainly in pole position.

Against immigration

Kemi Adegoke, better known to Nigerians as the current leader of the British Conservative Party, paradoxically holds a strong stance against immigration and culture wars.

Last August, the politician even declared that she did not identify as Nigerian. "I am Nigerian by my origins, by my birth, even though I was not born there, because of my parents...but by my identity. I am not really," she said.

The United Kingdom is currently governed by the Labour Party. She can only become Prime Minister if the Conservatives win the 2029 general election.

Votre photo prête à confusion. Faites un effort ! Kemi Badeboch est toute noire et fille de parents nigérians, née en Angleterre alors que sa mère y était juste pour se faire soigner et rentrer au Nigeria.
