Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa was unharmed after the vehicle carrying him was shot in the south of the country amid indigenous protests against the government, a minister announced Tuesday.
"500 people appeared and started throwing stones (at the presidential motorcade, editor's note) and, clearly, there are also bullet marks on the president's car," Environment and Energy Minister Inés Manzano told the press, assuring that the president escaped unharmed.
On X, the presidency spoke of an "attack" and released videos showing the scene from inside one of the vehicles in the presidential motorcade, when several projectiles hit the windows and someone inside shouted "lower your heads."
