Erdogan: "Il faut mettre fin à cette guerre avant qu'elle n'embrase complètement la région"
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on Wednesday for an end to the war in the Middle East "before it completely engulfs the region," during a speech to his parliamentary group.
"This war must be ended before it worsens and completely engulfs the region. If diplomacy has a chance, it is entirely possible. We are patiently pursuing our efforts to bring the parties back to the negotiating table," the Turkish head of state affirmed.
"We are all aware that if this senseless, anarchic and illegal war continues, the human and material losses will worsen, and the cost to the global economy will only increase," he added.
"As people of the region, we must not allow a conflict of which we are already victims to inflict further suffering upon us," he stressed.
On the other hand, on Monday, the Turkish president warned Iran against any "provocative action" after the interception of a second missile fired from Iran into Turkish airspace.
"Despite our clear warnings, extremely inappropriate and provocative actions continue to be taken, jeopardizing Turkey's friendship" with Iran, he stated.
