The alert was raised shortly before 6 p.m. near Sundance Lake in Indiana's Hoosier National Forest. According to a local police statement released Wednesday, the two children "became separated from their mother and became lost in the woods."
He finds the trail of the missing children
Several police patrols were deployed, but initial searches in the area yielded no results. Fortunately, a police officer from the canine unit finally arrived with Knox, his working dog. The animal began its search in a field over 500 meters long.
The police dog "led officers in the right direction and helped locate the two missing children," the police said in a statement. Both children were found safe and sound and returned to their parents. "We are beyond grateful for the incredible teamwork that was conducted," the police concluded.
