France : Même s'il échappe à la censure, le gouvernement Lecornu "ne tiendra pas sur la durée", prédit Le Pen
Despite the Socialist Party's leniency on the first motions of censure, Sébastien Lecornu's government "will not last long," Marine Le Pen said on Wednesday, still calling for a dissolution "in three weeks or three months."
"In any case, the government will fall, that's obvious," declared the head of the National Rally on France Inter, adding that "if the dissolution is not decided today, it will be decided perhaps in three weeks or three months."
The possibility of a return to the polls has, however, receded since Mr. Lecornu conceded on Tuesday a "suspension" of pension reform until the 2027 presidential election. In return, the Socialists chose not to vote on the motions of censure from LFI and the RN, which will be debated on Thursday morning.
"I knew that the Socialist Party would betray (...) because it was looking for an excuse not to censor" and "not to return to the elections," reacted Ms. Le Pen, without indicating whether her deputies would vote for the suspension promised by the Prime Minister.
"We are not chasing the ball, for one simple reason: if there is a dissolution, we hope to have an absolute majority and therefore be able to initiate the pension reform that we have proposed to the French people and which is much more interesting than this real-fake suspension," justified the leader of the RN group in the Assembly.
The far-right party will also present its "counter-budget" on October 23, "and in this counter-budget, this (pension) reform is financed," she assured.
More generally criticizing the budget presented by Mr. Lecornu, which she believes increases both taxes and spending, Ms. Le Pen warned that the National Rally would not support the "Zucman tax" on very high net worth individuals, which the Socialists intend to introduce by way of an amendment.
"We are obviously against it, for a very simple reason: it taxes professional assets," she declared, once again defending her own idea of a "tax on financial wealth."
