Guerre au Proche-Orient : Des explosions entendues au Qatar, au Koweït, aux Émirats et à Bahreïn
The region erupted into a large-scale direct confrontation on Saturday, February 28, 2026. After weeks of escalating threats, the United States, under Donald Trump, and Israel announced they had launched a major preemptive military operation against Iran. Explosions were reported at dawn in several key locations across the country, including Tehran and Isfahan. In response to what they described as an "aggression," the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps immediately launched Operation "True Promise 4."
This massive response involved an initial wave of drone and missile strikes targeting not only Israeli territory but also strategic US military infrastructure throughout the Gulf. According to the Iranian news agency Fars, the attacks specifically targeted Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, As Salim Air Base in Kuwait, and Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates. The home port of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain was also targeted.
The shockwave spread across the Arabian Peninsula, plunging neighboring countries into a state of high alert. In Qatar, American-made Patriot missile defense systems intercepted at least one Iranian missile while warning sirens sounded throughout the emirate. In Bahrain, the National Communications Center confirmed that a facility at the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet had been hit by a missile attack.
Panic is also spreading to the major capitals of the region. Loud explosions were heard in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Abu Dhabi, where authorities in the United Arab Emirates decided to temporarily and partially close their airspace as an exceptional precautionary measure. This unprecedented escalation marks a historic turning point in the conflict, transforming the Gulf into an area of direct confrontation between Washington, its allies, and Tehran.
