Le chef de la Ligue arabe qualifie d'"irresponsables" les attaques de l'Iran sur ses voisins
Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Sunday described Iranian attacks against several member states as "irresponsible," urging Tehran to revise a "gigantic strategic error."
On February 28, US and Israeli forces launched an offensive against Iran, which retaliated by targeting Israel and Gulf countries hosting US facilities.
Iranian strikes reflect "an irresponsible policy" and "cannot be justified by any pretext or excuse," said Mr. Aboul Gheit, speaking via videoconference to the assembly of Arab foreign ministers gathered in Cairo.
On the ninth day of the Middle East war, he lamented that the peace efforts of the Gulf countries were being rewarded with "treacherous missiles and drones".
Arab states are "not parties to the war", did not want it to start and have made it clear that they will not allow their territory or airspace to be used for military operations, he added.
Several Arab countries, including Oman — mediator in the latest nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran — as well as Qatar and Egypt, have made "serious, sincere and sustained efforts to spare the entire region, including Iran, the ravages of war," he noted.
