Le Qatar intercepte une attaque de missile, explosions à Dubaï
Qatar announced on Tuesday that it had intercepted a missile attack, as Iran continues its retaliatory strikes on Gulf countries in response to US-Israeli strikes.
An AFP journalist heard several explosions in Doha on Tuesday, a day after similar explosions in the Qatari capital.
Qatar, like several other Gulf countries, has been targeted by drones and missiles in recent days.
"The Ministry of Defence of the State of Qatar announces that the armed forces have intercepted a missile attack targeting the State of Qatar," it said Tuesday morning on X.
In Dubai, an AFP journalist heard three explosions after a mobile phone alert warned residents of the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates to "take immediate shelter" due to "potential missile threats".
Iran has fired more than 1,900 missiles and drones at the United Arab Emirates, more than at any other country targeted by Tehran since the start of the Middle East war.
Tehran has targeted American interests in the Gulf countries, as well as civilian infrastructure, including monuments, airports, ports and oil facilities.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Monday that US bases in the Middle East had been used to launch air raids and that missiles had been fired from the United Arab Emirates to hit the Iranian island of Kharg, which Emirati authorities denied.
