L'Espagne va fournir de l'aide humanitaire à Cuba via l'ONU
Spain announced on Monday, February 16, that it would soon provide humanitarian aid to Cuba through the UN, which is mired in a deep economic crisis aggravated by pressure from Washington.
"Spain will provide humanitarian aid (...) to Cuba through the United Nations system in the form of food and essential health products," the Spanish Foreign Ministry said, without specifying the timing and amount of the aid.
This announcement came after a meeting in Madrid between Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares and his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodríguez, where they discussed "the current situation in Cuba following the tightening of the American embargo".
Cuba has been facing a severe energy crisis since Venezuela stopped oil deliveries after the fall of Nicolas Maduro and faced threats from Washington to impose tariffs on countries that sell oil to the island.
Since Monday, the Cuban communist government has been implementing a series of emergency measures that restrict fuel sales and reduce public transportation in a country marked by power outages and shortages of food and medicine.
