L'Iran avertit que la guerre avec Israël peut reprendre "à tout moment"
Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref warned Monday that a new war with Israel could break out "at any moment," more than two months after a deadly conflict between the two enemies.
On June 13, Israel launched a surprise attack on Iranian territory, carrying out hundreds of strikes targeting military and nuclear sites, killing scientists linked to Iran's nuclear program and senior military officials.
Iran retaliated with missile and drone strikes on Israel and targeted the most important US base in the Middle East in Qatar.
The United States, which also bombed nuclear sites in Iran on June 22, announced a cessation of hostilities on June 24.
"We must be ready for confrontation at any time. Today, we are not even in a ceasefire situation; rather, there is a cessation of hostilities," Aref said.
Iran is "preparing plans for the worst-case scenario," Yahya Rahim Safavi, military adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, was quoted as saying by the Shargh daily on Sunday.
"There is currently no real ceasefire; we are in a war phase, and it could break out at any moment. There is no protocol, no regulation, no agreement between us and the Israelis, nor between us and the Americans," he noted.
Since the ceasefire, Iranian officials and military commanders have said the country is ready for a new confrontation, without seeking war.
More than 1,000 people were killed in Iran during the June conflict, according to Iranian authorities. Israel, for its part, reported 28 deaths.
Western powers and Israel accuse Iran, which denies this, of seeking nuclear weapons.
