Majorque : un mort et un blessé grave dans le naufrage d'une embarcation transportant des migrants
The occupants of a drifting boat discovered south of Mallorca spent nearly a week at sea. Those rescued were handed over to the National Police in Palma.
One man died and 19 others were injured when a boat carrying more than 20 migrants capsized Wednesday afternoon off the coast of Mallorca.
The boat had been drifting for six days on the Algerian route to the Balearic Islands. Health services initially treated 20 adults. Three of them were taken to Manacor hospital, including a 21-year-old man and two women aged 19 and 28.
A critically ill patient, a 30-year-old man, was transferred to Son Espases, while 15 others were treated there. The death of one adult has been confirmed.
The Civil Guard is searching for three missing people who are believed to have jumped into the sea while trying to swim to shore.
According to the Balearic government, a private boat rescued a sub-Saharan migrant who was taken to Porto Petro for medical treatment.
It was he who reported that he was traveling with 23 other people on board a skiff that had sunk after spending nearly a week adrift, prompting the activation of air and maritime search and rescue resources.
