Nouvelle inculpation d'une opposante de Trump, la procureure générale de New York
The judge herself initiated legal proceedings against Donald Trump, which earned her a very heavy sentence in 2024. She was indicted Thursday on suspicion of falsifying documents relating to mortgage loan applications.
According to the Washington Post, prosecutors say Letitia James falsely claimed a Norfolk, Virginia, home she owns as her primary residence on mortgage documents, which would have allowed her to obtain more favorable terms.
This indictment comes after that of former FBI director James Comey, also a personal opponent of the American president.
For several days, Donald Trump has been putting pressure on his Justice Department to prosecute several of his pet peeves.
And Letitia James is a leading figure: she is behind the fraud proceedings against him and his two sons, Donald and Eric Jr., all three of whom were found guilty of having colossally inflated the value of the Trump Organization's assets during the 2010s - their skyscrapers, luxury hotels and golf courses around the world.
At the end of a highly publicized trial held in 2024, Donald Trump was sentenced to a colossal fine of $464 million.
Last August, a New York State appeals court overturned the fine, citing an "excessive amount that violates the Eighth Amendment to the United States Constitution," which prohibits disproportionate sentencing.
The president has often said that Letitia James should be prosecuted and called the African-American judge "corrupt" and "racist."
