Paris : François Hollande victime d’un cambriolage, deux hommes d'origine algérienne placés en détention provisoire
Former French President François Hollande and his partner Julie Gayet were victims of a burglary on November 22nd in Paris. Two men, born in Algeria, have been charged and placed in pretrial detention, CNEWS learned from the Paris prosecutor's office.
Every year, the French capital records several thousand burglaries. But one of the victims recorded at the end of 2025 was none other than the former President of the Republic, François Hollande.
Indeed, the former head of state and his partner, Julie Gayet, were victims of a burglary on November 22, CNEWS learned from the Paris prosecutor's office on Monday, December 1, confirming information from BFMTV.
According to our colleagues, a watch was stolen. Following this burglary, an investigation has been opened for "organized theft" and is being conducted by the 2nd district of the judicial police.
The investigation led to the arrest of two men. According to the Paris prosecutor's office, speaking to CNEWS, the two suspects were "born in December 1994 and February 1995 in Algeria." The two men have been formally charged and brought before a judge.
They were "formally charged and placed in pretrial detention on November 28, 2025," the Paris prosecutor's office concluded. Regarding the stolen watch, it was returned to the former president of the Republic.
