«Plusieurs milliers de soldats français» pourraient être déployés en Ukraine pour maintenir la paix après le cessez-le-feu, annonce Emmanuel Macron

After signing the Paris Declaration, which specifies the security measures to be applied in Ukraine once peace has been concluded with Russia, Emmanuel Macron clarified the role of Western powers in maintaining peace and respecting the ceasefire.

France will actively participate in maintaining peace between Russia and Ukraine. Minutes after the signing of the Paris Declaration at the Élysée Palace, Emmanuel Macron warned that "thousands of French soldiers" could be sent to maintain peace in Ukraine after the ceasefire.

"France will participate in these peacekeeping operations. We have shown our willingness to be part of this multinational force," the French president stated on France Télévisions radio on Tuesday, January 6.

"The potential is to send several thousand men."

"These are not forces we are committing to combat; our fellow citizens must keep that in mind," the French head of state was quick to clarify. "This concerns the day after the declaration of peace, where we want to provide a form of guarantee of lasting peace and security," he continued.

"The potential is to send several thousand men. This will not happen right now, it is a planned operation. It will take place within the framework of our external operations and therefore we will make decisions," insisted Emmanuel Macron.

He also reiterated his ambition that France could "provide images and the operation", emphasizing in particular that our country "has the capacity to do so and is already doing so".

Finally, Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed his objective of re-establishing dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin. "We are in the process of reorganizing contact, which will take place in the coming weeks. We want peace. We do not want peace to be a Ukrainian capitulation," he stated again.

Macron double jeu il y a 1 jour
Macron et sa France loin d'être neutres tout au long de ce conflit. La Russie bien sûr n'acceptera pas cette " paix française".
