The Transavia Boeing 738, which was due to fly from Biarritz to Marrakech on Saturday, November 29, had to make an emergency landing after cracks were found on its cockpit windshield, Sud-Ouest reported on Thursday.
Based on three passenger accounts, the newspaper reports that the pilot "announced a problem" after only thirty minutes of flight. Forty minutes of anguish ensued for the passengers, before the flight returned to square one, Biarritz airport.
"I thought I was going to die."
"The pilot told us that the cockpit window was cracking and that he was going to turn around to bring us back. His voice was trembling," says Thomas, one of the witnesses.
“I thought I was going to die. I had prepared myself psychologically for it,” says Yvan. He adds that the flight attendant who was trying to reassure the passengers was “himself very stressed.”
"The flight attendants asked for two volunteers in case of evacuation of the plane. But we were above the mountains," testifies another passenger.
