Trump explique ses hématomes par sa dose d'aspirines

The American president says he takes 325 milligrams of aspirin every day, against the advice of doctors.

Donald Trump attributes the visible bruises on his right hand to the higher dose of aspirin he takes daily than doctors recommend, and denies having dozed off at recent public events in an interview with the "Wall Street Journal" published Thursday.

"They (the doctors) would prefer that I take the lower dose (of aspirin). I have been taking a higher dose (...) for years, and it causes bruising," he explains.

Donald Trump, 79, is the oldest American president ever elected.

"They say aspirin is good for thinning the blood and I don't want thick blood flowing to my heart. I want nice, thin blood," he explains regarding his daily intake of 325 milligrams.

"I have makeup that's easy to apply."

A low dose is generally 81 milligrams, according to the Mayo Clinic, a hospital cited by the "Wall Street Journal".

The almost-octogenarian is regularly seen with the back of his right hand made up or bandaged to conceal bruises, attributed by the White House to his frequent handshakes and his taking aspirin as a routine cardiovascular treatment.

"I have makeup that's easy to apply, it takes ten seconds," he says.

Contrary to his previous statements, Donald Trump clarified that he underwent a CT scan, not an MRI, in October. This information was confirmed by his physician, Sean Barbabella, in a statement to the American newspaper, who explained that the purpose was to "definitively rule out any cardiovascular problems" and that the examination had shown no abnormalities.

The Republican also claims not to have dozed off during several public events, after being seen having difficulty keeping his eyes open, notably during a cabinet meeting in December.

"I just close my eyes. It relaxes me a lot," he defends himself, frustrated that his health is being scrutinized in every detail.

"Sometimes they take pictures of me blinking and they capture the moment I blink," he continues.

After receiving a diagnosis of chronic venous insufficiency in July, the billionaire explained that he had briefly worn compression stockings, but had given them up because he "didn't like them".

In April, his medical report indicated that he was taking medication for cholesterol, among other things.

Donald Trump, who during the presidential campaign relentlessly attacked his Democratic rival Joe Biden, portraying him as senile, regularly boasts of excelling in cognitive tests.
