Un avion prend feu en plein vol au-dessus de l’Italie : Panique à bord
While flying over Italy last Saturday, a Condor Airbus A320 caught fire. The panic of the passengers on board contrasted with the calm of the pilots, who were able to make an emergency landing at Brindisi airport.
In reality, it was the plane's right engine that caught fire shortly after takeoff from Corfu, Greece.
"Suddenly, we heard a loud noise, then flames shot out of the engine," a passenger told Bild. The explosions continued, creating panic on board.
“I sent goodbye messages because I thought it was over.”
"It was a terrible experience. I sent goodbye messages because I thought it was over," said a woman who was with her daughter, both sitting near the reactors.
According to an official statement from the German airline, the fire was caused by combustion outside the engine.
Air traffic in Brindisi was suspended for about half an hour while firefighters worked on the runway. The 273 passengers on the flight were scheduled to land in Düsseldorf on Saturday evening. They had to return to the German city on another plane the next day.
