Un policier tire sur un homme menaçant muni d'une arme blanche
An officer used his weapon and wounded a young man. The young man had "threatened the officers and attempted to attack them with a knife."
Early Thursday afternoon, a police officer in Fribourg shot an "aggressive" man armed with a knife. The wounded man was hospitalized.
Around 2 p.m., as part of the search for a person who had run away from a psychiatric facility in the canton, a patrol intervened at the Poya home in Fribourg, the residence of the person being sought, the Fribourg cantonal police said in a statement.
The officers found the person they were looking for in the home, a 21-year-old Sudanese asylum seeker.
"For reasons that the investigation will attempt to establish, he threatened the responders and tried to attack them with a knife. An officer used the incapacitating electric impulse device (taser), without effect on the alleged aggressor. It was then that the second police officer used his service weapon," the Fribourg police explained.
The asylum seeker, who had been shot, was rescued by police officers, then taken to a hospital by ambulance. The severity of his injury has not been specified.
An investigation has been opened by the Public Prosecutor's Office. At this stage, no further information will be released, it was specified.
