Un pont s’effondre en Chine, seulement quelques mois après son inauguration
A newly opened bridge partially collapsed Tuesday in Sichuan province, southwest China, on a national highway leading to Tibet, local authorities said. No injuries were reported.
Police in the city of Maerkang closed the 758-meter-long Hongqi Bridge to all traffic on Monday afternoon after cracks appeared on the slopes and surrounding roads, and due to the risk of landslides observed on a mountain, the local government said.
On Tuesday, what was feared happened: the bridge and the road collapsed during major landslides, authorities added.
The construction of the bridge was completed earlier this year, according to a video posted on social media by the construction company Sichuan Road & Bridge Group.
