“Actes contre nature” : Jamra salue le projet de révision du Code pénal
The NGO Jamra welcomed on Wednesday the adoption by the Council of Ministers of a draft law amending article 319 of law no. 65-60 of July 21, 1965, concerning the Penal Code, relating to “acts against nature”, with a view to clarifying the definition and toughening the penalties.
In a Facebook post following the government meeting of February 18, 2026, the organization indicated that the text provides for a clarification of the offenses and a strengthening of criminal penalties. It also noted the introduction of repressive measures against the glorification and financing of these acts.
Mame Makhtar Guèye & Co. affirm that they “validate” this reform, believing that it takes into account their concerns regarding the need for stricter legal frameworks and rigorous application of existing penal provisions.
The NGO believes that this new version of the text should soon be submitted to the National Assembly for review and final adoption, in accordance with the legislative procedure.
Quoting the French philosopher Blaise Pascal, the organization recalls that “justice without force is powerless, force without justice is tyrannical”, believing that the reform undertaken is part of a desire to strengthen the authority of the law.
