Affaire Arcelor Mittal : un autre ancien ministre discrètement entendu
In its Tuesday, September 2 edition, Libération revealed that former Budget Minister Birama Mangara was discreetly questioned on August 21 in connection with the Arcelor Mittal affair. His hearing came the day after that of former Mines Minister Aly Ngouille Ndiaye.
According to the newspaper, a judicial investigation is underway in Dakar into particularly serious charges: criminal association, corruption, receiving stolen goods, money laundering, fraud and complicity.
This procedure follows a complaint filed by the Senegalese government against several entities of the Arcelor Mittal group. In 2014, Libération recalls, Birama Mangara had seized an arbitration tribunal to request the withdrawal of proceedings brought against Mittal, an initiative that fell within the prerogatives of the state's judicial agent, who was kept out of the case.
