Affaire des 8 milliards F CFA : le parquet général financier écrit à Lat Diop
Following its appeal against the latest ruling by the indictment chamber ordering Lat Diop to be placed under house arrest with the use of an electronic bracelet, the financial prosecutor's office has notified the defendant's lawyers of its request, setting out its arguments. "The ball is now in the court of the former CEO of Lonase," reports Les Échos, which provides the information.
The newspaper continues: "Lat Diop's lawyers must respond to the arguments put forward by the public prosecutor. This process will soon reach the criminal division of the Supreme Court."
The former Minister of Sports has been in custody since September 2024. He is being prosecuted for embezzlement of public funds, extortion and money laundering.
Recently, based on an expert report, the public prosecutor had formulated a supplementary indictment, calling for a new indictment of Lat Diop. But the financial indictment chamber took the opposite view of the prosecutor, pointing out the unreliability of the report in question due, in particular, to its non-contradictory nature.
