Affaire des présumés homosexuels : L’avocat de Djiby Dramé porte plainte contre le commandant de la BR de Keur Massar
The lawyer for singer Djiby Dramé, Kandiack François Senghor, has launched a legal battle against Warrant Officer El Hadj Abdoul Aziz Gning, commander of the Keur Massar research brigade. Djiby Dramé was remanded in custody yesterday by the investigating judge of the first chamber of the Pikine-Guédiawaye court on charges of criminal conspiracy, money laundering, acts against nature, intentional transmission of HIV, and endangering the lives of others. François Senghor accuses the commander who led the investigation of obstructing the rights of the defense and the practice of law.
According to Seneweb, on February 10, 2026, the lawyer filed two complaints against the judicial police officer. The first was addressed to the Attorney General at the Dakar Court of Appeal for obstruction of justice, misconduct, and defamation of a constituted body. The second was filed with the Indictment Division seeking a permanent ban on the commander exercising the functions of a judicial police officer.
In his complaints, Mr. Senghor explains that, on February 6, 2026, Commander Gning prevented his client from having legal counsel during his hearing. The gendarme allegedly demanded a private meeting with the accused and confiscated his phone.
Worse still, Warrant Officer Gning allegedly forced Djiby Dramé to waive his fundamental right to a defense. The client later confirmed that this waiver was motivated by pressure and threats from the commander, who reportedly told him that the lawyer's presence would "publicize the case" and that it was better to "settle amicably" without legal representation.
The complaint and the request also emphasize that the commander disclosed details of the procedure in the press and on social media, before any official statement from the gendarmerie, constituting, according to the lawyer, an act of defamation and breach of trust.
Attorney François Senghor cites Article 9 of the Constitution of Senegal, Article 5 of the UEMOA regulations governing the legal profession, and Articles 101 and 258 of the Senegalese Penal Code to justify his actions. He requests that Commander Gning be sanctioned and prevented from continuing his duties as a judicial police officer, given the seriousness of these violations of the rights of the defense and the practice of law.
