Affaire Farba Ngom : L'UMS s'insurge contre la plainte de Me Bocar Thiam contre le juge d'instruction Idrissa Diarra
The Union of Senegalese Magistrates (UMS) issued a statement this Friday, November 21, 2025, denouncing a complaint deemed unfounded against a magistrate. The union strongly condemns this initiative, which it describes as an attempt to discredit a judge.
The UMS has been informed of the initiative taken by lawyer Moussa Bocar Thiam, who felt compelled to file a complaint with the General Inspectorate of the Administration of Justice (IGAJ). This complaint targets Magistrate Idrissa Diarra, president of the panel of investigating judges of the Financial Judicial Pool, in the context of the proceedings concerning Mr. Mouhamadou Ngom, known as "Farba," and others.
Upon investigation, the UMS revealed that Mr. Ngom was never consulted on such a procedure. No group of lawyers representing him was involved in this initiative at any time.
According to the UMS, this isolated action lacks any procedural basis and is clearly motivated by an ulterior motive. It constitutes an unacceptable attempt to discredit a magistrate unanimously recognized for his seriousness, competence, and professional rigor.
The union organization emphasizes that the complainant knowingly violated the rules of procedure as well as the principles of ethics and professional conduct that govern the legal profession.
The widespread dissemination of this letter in the press, without any basis and outside of any legal framework, underscores, according to the UMS, the seriousness of this breach of trust. The UMS strongly condemns such behavior, which is detrimental not only to the honor of the magistrate in question, but also to the dignity and credibility of the judicial institution.
The organization announces its intention to take all necessary steps as soon as possible to ensure that this irresponsible act is subject to exemplary sanctions in accordance with the laws in force.
