Affaire Ismaïla Madior Fall : la Cour suprême tranche ce mercredi
The lawyers for Ismaïla Madior Fall, former Minister of Justice, have filed an emergency appeal with the Supreme Court seeking the removal of his electronic monitoring bracelet. The high court is expected to rule on this request on Wednesday, June 3.
The defense, quoted by Les Échos, argues that "wearing an electronic bracelet," combined with their client's house arrest, constitutes "a form of detention" that has become unjustified. The lawyers believe this measure is "borderline arbitrary," given that the investigation is now closed.
The former Minister of Justice, facing charges in an alleged corruption case involving 50 million CFA francs, has been referred to the High Court of Justice. He has always maintained his innocence.
In parallel with the proceedings before the Supreme Court, the newspaper adds, the former minister's lawyers have chosen to "internationalize the case" by appealing to the ECOWAS Court of Justice. They intend to denounce what they consider "a violation of their client's rights" by the High Court of Justice.
