Affaire Madiambal Diagne : Sa famille emprisonnée, ses avocats crient à la persécution politique
The lawyers' collective of Madiambal Diagne, director of the Avenir Communication press group, denounced what it calls "political persecution" targeting their client and his family, through a press release made public this Thursday and signed by Maîtres El Hadj Amadou Sall, Baboucar Cissé, Dior Diagne, Antoine Mbengue, Ousmane Thiam, Pape Sène, Arona Basse, Ramatoulaye Ba and William Bourdon & Associés, lawyers at the Senegal and Paris bars.
The lawyers recall that on September 29, 2025, the senior investigating judge of the Financial Judicial Pool of the Dakar High Court remanded Ms. Mabintou Diaby, Mr. Serigne Saliou Diagne, and Mr. Mohamed Diagne, the journalist's wife and son respectively, into custody. These decisions follow a judicial delegation entrusted to the Anti-Terrorism Brigade of the Criminal Investigation Division (BAT-DIC), following a request from the Financial Prosecutor's Office dated August 28, 2025.
The group denounces the irregular and rushed proceedings. It points out, in particular, that Serigne Saliou Diagne was not the subject of the initial indictment, but that he was nonetheless arrested and taken into custody before being sent to detention. "There was no serious reason to justify such measures," the lawyers argue.
For the latter, this case reflects a clear desire to attack Madiambal Diagne, a journalist known for his outspokenness and his closeness to former President Macky Sall. The group speaks of a "manhunt" launched to silence a media figure critical of all political sensibilities.
On September 23, Madiambal Diagne was arrested at Dakar airport as he was about to board a flight to Paris for professional reasons. After receiving a summons from the DIC, he finally left Senegal for France, "in order to organize his defense and avoid arbitrary arrest," his lawyers explained.
Three days later, on September 26, the Senegalese government announced the issuance of an international arrest warrant against him. Lawyers denounced this move as "a caricatured political exploitation of justice."
They claim to have contacted INTERPOL to request the suspension or cancellation of any red notice, given the clearly political nature of the procedure.
Mr. Diagne's lawyers also criticize the lack of fairness in the prosecutions brought against several public figures since the change of regime, based on a unilateral report by the CENTIF. "The use of Madiambal Diagne's family as a means of pressure confirms the political dimension of this case," they maintain.
The collective now calls for the mobilization of international organizations defending journalists and the intervention of the competent institutions to obtain the immediate release of Mabintou Diaby, Serigne Saliou and Mohamed Diagne, all in detention.

Madambal a fui et n'escompte pas revenir. C'est un psychopathe avéré. Il s'en fout de la situation de sa femme et de ses enfants. Il n'en a que faire. Les psychopathes ne ressentent aucune émotion. Ils sont sans affect, pourvue que sa famille meure,. Madambal n'en a que faire. Les officiers de police et les autorités doivent le savoir. Afin de tenir en considération cet élément dans l'enquête.
Ici les avocats des membres de la famille de Madambal commencent à se rendre compte que le gars est un psychopathe froid et cynique. Ils cherchent à faire distinguer les affaires. Les membres de sa famille doivent commencer à le maudire. Ils se rendent compte qu'ils seront les dindons de la farce sans que Madambal ne s'en emeuve. Toute cette rhétorique de préparer une défense et de retour est de la manipulation psychologique. Second aspect des personnes psychopathes.
Madambal n'a aucune intention de revenir, il sait très bien ce qu'il a fait. Et regardez de tous les messages qu'il envoie aucun soutien et aucune pensée à sa famille. Sacrée Madambal !
