The indictment chamber will examine, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, the appeal made against the order for house arrest under electronic surveillance targeting journalist Soya Diagne.
According to Seneweb, his lawyers, El Hadj Amadou Sall, El Hadj Omar Youm, Alioune Badara Fall and Co., confirmed that the hearing was to be held at 9 a.m.
Soya Diagne was placed in pretrial detention on October 16, 2025, by the senior investigating judge of the Dakar court. He is being prosecuted for spreading false news and making statements contrary to public morals.
On December 17, the investigating judge granted him provisional release under electronic monitoring. However, the public prosecutor's office opposed this decision. The appeals court will rule next Tuesday.
