Bougar Diouf riposte après la plainte du maire de Dakar
Summoned by the Dakar urban security forces, following a complaint filed by the mayor of Dakar, Abass Fall, the president of the Union of Pan-Africanists of Senegal (UPS), Bougar Diouf, announced in turn that he would initiate legal proceedings against the mayor of the capital.
According to the person concerned, the summons, received by telephone for a hearing scheduled for tomorrow at 10 a.m., follows an article published in the press. He specifies, however, that the offending text "is exclusively part of the official communication" of the UPS, a legally constituted political party.
Believing that the mayor's actions constitute an "abusive legal action", he announces the filing of a counter-complaint against Mr. Fall, for several reasons, including unfounded prosecution of a document emanating from a recognized political party, unjustified personal accusation and erroneous imputation of identity, and inaccurate denunciation made against him.
The case now pits the mayor of Dakar against the UPS member in a dual process of cross-complaints, each believing they are victims of an infringement of their rights or reputation.
The hearings should shed light on the circumstances of the publication and determine any potential responsibilities.
