Chambre criminelle de Dakar : 5 ans ferme pour Serigne Assane Mbacké et Cie
The marabout and preacher Serigne Assane Mbacké and his associates were sentenced to five years in prison and fined 200,000 CFA francs by the Dakar Criminal Court. The judge found the defendants guilty of the crimes of corruption of minors, human trafficking for sexual purposes, abduction of minors, and acts against nature.
On the other hand, Assane Mbacké, Khadim Samb alias “Djimbory”, Abdourahmane Lo, Ibrahima Badiane alias “Maître l'Ouest” alias “IB” and Baidy Hamady Sow were acquitted of the charge of rape.
They must pay 5 million CFA francs in damages to the victim, O. Diouf, who had claimed 50 million. The other plaintiff, Mr. Sow, did not file a claim for civil damages.
During their trial on November 4th, the public prosecutor requested 10 years of criminal imprisonment for all the accused.
Serigne Assane Mbacké's gang was arrested in August 2021 by the Special Cybersecurity Division, following a complaint filed against persons unknown by Abdoulaye Siga Diouf. He denounced acts of sexual abuse and exploitation committed against his 16-year-old son, O. Diouf, by a homosexual network.
