Commission ad hoc : la curieuse demande de Farba Ngom
Following the formation of the ad hoc committee, chaired by Ayib Daffé, the schedule is now set for the second procedure to lift the parliamentary immunity of Farba Ngom, the deputy-mayor of Agnam. His hearing is scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m.
Farba Ngom writes to El Malick Ndiaye
Farba Ngom, currently detained, does not intend to remain passive in the face of this procedure. Through his lawyer, he sent a letter to the President of the National Assembly, El Malick Ndiaye, demanding strict respect for his rights, according to Les Échos in its Tuesday, February 10th edition. The APR official is requesting his physical presence at his hearing before the ad hoc committee this Friday, as well as at the decisive plenary session scheduled for next Monday.
The ball is in the Executive's court.
To address this request, the newspaper reports, the ad hoc committee has asked the Speaker of the National Assembly to question the Minister of Justice, Yassine Fall. The aim is to obtain permission for the MP, currently held in the Special Ward, to leave the prison so that he can present his defense before the National Assembly.
The question now is whether Yassine Fall will grant this request to allow Farba Ngom to defend himself in person before his colleagues decide his fate, the same source wonders.
