Coups et blessures à cause d'un "Lakh" : La sentence est tombée à Thiès
Tried on February 9, 2026, for assault and battery causing a six-day temporary incapacity for work (ITT) for young A. Diakhaté, Ms. M. Cissé, aged around sixty, and her daughter Coura have learned their fate. The Thiès court delivered its verdict this Monday, sentencing the two defendants to three months' imprisonment, suspended, and ordering them to pay 100,000 FCFA in damages.
The origin of this rather unusual case lies in a violent altercation over a bowl of "lakh" (millet porridge). The incident occurred during a family gathering. According to the victim's statement, the conflict erupted when she was filling a bottle with this traditional dish to take home. The elderly woman, strongly opposed to this, tried to stop her, thus triggering a heated argument.
The situation quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. Mr. Cissé, supported by his daughter Coura, violently attacked the young woman. The blows inflicted caused injuries documented in a medical report.
