Demande de liberté provisoire : Lat Diop retente sa chance, chambre d'accusation contre Cour suprême
According to Les Echos, the Financial Indictment Chamber will examine next Wednesday the new request for provisional release of Lat Diop, former director general of Lonase . This request follows the refusal of the president of the College of Investigating Judges.
The newspaper recalls that this same court had already ordered the placement of the former minister and leader of the Alliance for the Republic (APR, former ruling party) under electronic surveillance, a decision subsequently overturned by the Supreme Court, which had confirmed his detention.
Prosecuted for the alleged embezzlement of 8 billion CFA francs, Lat Diop claims that there are serious disputes and that there is no evidence to prove his guilt, while the investigating judge insists on the need to repay the funds or provide bail.
It remains to be seen whether the Indictment Chamber will maintain its position or align itself with the Supreme Court's decision this time, wonders Les Echos.
