Fatick : La BR de Kaolack démantèle un gang qui avait volé 8 bœufs à un imam

The village of Fayil, located 7 km from Fatick, has recently been shaken by several cases of cattle theft. The village imam, Mr. Diouf, was the main victim. He first lost four oxen on the night of March 19, then four more on the night of October 27-28, 2025. Faced with these repeated losses, he filed a complaint with the Kaolack Criminal Investigation Brigade (BR).

The investigation led to the discovery of a well-organized network of thieves. Initial progress resulted in the arrest of the gang's driver, C. Wade, apprehended in Sandiara. He confessed and revealed the identities of his accomplices.

Thanks to this information, the gendarmes were able to successively arrest the shepherd A. Sow, alias "Gorgui", arrested in Thiadiaye; F. Dieng, a shopkeeper arrested in Mbour; G. Ngom, a merchant also arrested in Thiadiaye as well as two receivers in Thiès, M. Ba, alias "Aliou", and A. Ba.

The six individuals admitted to the acts during their hearing. They were brought before the Fatick prosecutor's office on Monday, November 17, before being remanded in custody on charges of criminal conspiracy, aggravated theft of livestock at night using a vehicle, and receiving stolen goods, according to Seneweb sources close to the prosecutor's office.

The residents of Fayil expressed their satisfaction following this operation. They praised the work of the investigators from the Kaolack BR, led by Chief Warrant Officer Modou Ndiaye, whose actions put an end to the activities of a gang that had been terrorizing the local herders.
