L’Union des magistrats sénégalais condamne les attaques contre un membre de la Cour des comptes
The Union of Senegalese Magistrates (UMS) denounced, in a statement published on November 5, 2025, a post circulated on social media by a political figure, implicating a magistrate of the Court of Auditors. This post, accompanied by remarks deemed malicious, provoked strong condemnation from the UMS.
The organization considers these actions to be an attack on the dignity of the judiciary and a challenge to the fundamental principles of justice, in particular the independence and impartiality of judges.
The UMS believes it is unacceptable for magistrates to be publicly exposed or targeted for actions taken in the course of their duties. Such behavior, it emphasizes, undermines public trust in the judicial system.
Recalling that justice is an essential pillar of the rule of law, the UMS strongly condemns any form of pressure or intimidation targeting a magistrate. It reaffirms its commitment to defending the honor and independence of all its members.
