Manifestation à l’Ucad : La police tient une piste…
The investigation into the protests at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD), which resulted in the death of student Abdoulaye Ba, is accelerating. The Dakar Urban Security Division, which is handling the case, has a promising lead. It is investigating the possibility of political manipulation of the unrest at UCAD.
According to Seneweb, investigations have revealed that politicians allegedly financed students to destabilize the campus and vandalize restaurants. Some students reportedly received money from a restaurant owner to save his business.
Other questions asked included the following: “Are you a member of a student association or a political party? Where did you get the money for the meals you prepared for the students?” our sources revealed. They reported that 105 students, arrested during clashes with law enforcement, are being held in custody for acts of vandalism, destruction and damage to private and public property, violence and assault against security forces, participation in an unauthorized demonstration, and insults.
At this stage of the investigation, an initial group has already been questioned. A further 72 individuals will be heard this Wednesday. The students are being assisted by the Association of Young Lawyers of Senegal, including lawyers Sally Mamadou Thiam, Bassirou Baldé, Yankhoba Ndiaye, Ngoné Diop, Aïssatou Sabara, Albert Thior, Amadou Diakhaté, and Bamba Ndiaye.
