Moussa Bocar Thiam saisit le Bâtonnier pour un veto aux poursuites
On March 3, 2026, Moussa Bocar Thiam officially petitioned the President of the Bar Association to veto the proceedings initiated against him. The former minister denounces the indictment as "irregular, abusive, and contrary to the Constitution."
In his request, he invokes the absence of a legal basis, stressing that the internal regulations of the National Assembly do not provide for any procedure relating to the High Court of Justice, after the removal of the relevant provisions following a decision of the Constitutional Council (2/C/2025 of July 24, 2025).
He also denounces the participation in the debates of certain members of the High Court, notably MP Abdou Mbow, in violation of the 2002 organic law which prohibits MPs who are members of said jurisdiction from taking part in discussions and voting on an impeachment.
Moussa Bocar Thiam categorically denies the accusations of embezzlement of public funds. He asserts that no audit has called into question his management, that no financial transactions were carried out under his authority, and that the funds in question did not originate from the public treasury or any official budget line, particularly within the framework of the Senegal Connect Park project.
As a lawyer registered with the bar, he reminds everyone that no arrest or detention can take place without prior consultation with the Bar President, whom he calls upon to ensure strict compliance with this formality and to issue an unfavorable opinion on any prosecution.
