Singer Aby Ndour has sued her business partner, Babacar Athie, manager of the company ABY'S GARDEN SARL, for breach of trust involving 40 million CFA francs. Following the complaint filed in court, the prosecutor entrusted the investigation to the Faidherbe research brigade, which arrested the suspect on Monday.
As part of the creation of the company ABY'S GARDEN SARL, Aby Ndour partnered with Babacar Athie. The share distribution was clear: 60% for the singer and 40% for her partner. Given his experience in the restaurant industry, the operational management of the company was entrusted to Babacar Athie. According to the investigation, he was therefore authorized to make withdrawals and to hold the company's funds.
At Babacar Athie's suggestion, a monthly savings plan of 2,500,000 CFA francs was established. This sum, recorded under the heading "Exceptional Bonus" or "Company Fund," was intended to create a financial reserve to cope with potential difficulties, according to Seneweb sources close to the matter.
ABY'S GARDEN subsequently suffered a fire, resulting in losses estimated at over 60 million CFA francs. It was then that the problems came to light. Despite the existence of the funds he was supposed to hold, Babacar Athie allegedly provided no financial assistance to the affected company, the investigation revealed.
Upon investigation, Mr. Athie's explanations regarding the use of the funds, estimated at approximately 40 million CFA francs, proved unfounded. The investigation also reportedly established that equipment belonging to the company had been sold without authorization.
Babacar Athie was taken into custody at the Faidherbe research brigade of the Dakar gendarmerie company. The case is proceeding through the judicial process.
