Pourquoi Lat Diop n’a pas été libéré jeudi : Son avocat donne la véritable raison
Despite the Supreme Court's decision on Thursday to reject the public prosecutor's appeal against his provisional release under electronic monitoring, Lat Diop was only released from prison yesterday, Friday. His lawyer explained the delay in leaving Rebeuss prison. "It's an administrative delay, since the public prosecutor hadn't received notification of the decision," stated Mr. Djiby Diallo on RFM radio.
Although pleased to see his client return home, the lawyer said he also felt a sense of regret. The reason: "Someone was kept in prison for a year when, in our opinion, he did nothing wrong," he stated. According to Mr. Diallo, his client could have been released on bail while the evidence was gathered.
