Rebeuss : pourquoi « Mara milliardaire » a été extrait de sa cellule
Things are getting complicated for A. Faye, alias "Mara the Billionaire". In its edition of Wednesday, June 3, Libération reveals that the detainee, already incarcerated at the Rebeuss prison for serious charges - including criminal association, pedophilia, repeated rapes of a minor and "intentional transmission of HIV" - was taken from his cell by the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) for a case that "complicates his case".
On May 18, the same source recalls, during a transfer to Abass Ndao Hospital for medical examinations, the six prison guards decided, "for practical reasons," to divide up the supervision of the inmates. It was in this context that "Mara the Billionaire" allegedly took advantage of the situation. After his X-ray, he again requested access to the toilet, "claiming to have diarrhea." To allow him to go to his room "undisturbed," his escort removed his handcuffs.
The investigation by the DIC (Criminal Investigation Division) has shown that his escape was far from accidental, the newspaper points out. The suspect used "considerable agility" to escape through a window approximately 40 cm wide overlooking a "deserted corridor." A chase ensued, covering "more than two hundred meters" through the hospital grounds before he was apprehended by his guard. Re-arrested, he was brought before the prosecutor's office for "attempted escape."
