Rentrée judiciaire 2026 à Saint-Louis : La justice sénégalaise s’engage dans l’ère du numérique
The opening of the 2026 judicial year took place this Friday, February 20th, in the city of Saint-Louis. This was a historic first, as the ceremony, previously held exclusively in Dakar, was decentralized to the northern capital. It was presided over by the Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Yacine Fall.
Under the theme of modernizing justice in the digital age, this academic year was presented as a time for reflection and planning. The minister emphasized the need to adapt the public justice system to technological changes in order to strengthen its efficiency, transparency, and accessibility for citizens.
Ongoing projects include the e-Justice platform, the digitization of archives, the development of online services and the progressive interconnection of jurisdictions.
In Saint-Louis, investments have already made it possible to strengthen the digital infrastructure of the courthouse, with some jurisdictions even being chosen as pilot sites for the online issuance of criminal records and certificates of nationality.
However, Yacine Fall emphasized that the success of this transformation depends first and foremost on human factors. "Digital technology supports magistrates, but judicial decisions remain a human endeavor," she stressed, calling for continuous training and a genuine culture of performance within the Senegalese justice system.
