Stamipol accusée de banaliser la contrainte sexuelle
Stamipol, a Senegalese brand specializing in erotic products, is currently at the heart of a major PR disaster.
A recent advertising campaign by the brand has raised serious ethical and social concerns. The video's content depicts sexual relations and, for some, alludes to marital rape. This could be perceived as an affront to public decency, particularly in a public space accessible to all.

The video's release sparked outrage on social media, prompting many users to denounce the campaign as shocking and inappropriate. Faced with the controversy, the brand apologized and removed the video. However, it had already been widely viewed and shared.
According to Maimouna Astou Yade, a feminist activist who spoke out publicly on social media: “Marital rape exists. Contrary to a still widespread belief, marriage or cohabitation does not negate the notion of consent. Any sexual relationship imposed through coercion, fear, or psychological or moral pressure constitutes rape, including within a couple.”
In addition to this video, there is also an advertising poster in which a man is seen licking a woman's thigh, a scene which has also contributed to reinforcing the unease and controversy surrounding the brand.
Stamipol is certainly used to provocative, shock-based marketing, but this time the brand seems to have crossed a line.
