TGI de Thiès : Un père et son fils jugés pour le vol d’un bœuf de race hollandaise
A. Ka, a shepherd residing in the village of Ndam Lo (Thiès), is being prosecuted before the Thiès High Court for conspiracy and the theft of a Dutch breed ox belonging to the breeder M. Ndiaye. His father, S. Ka, is being prosecuted for conspiracy and receiving stolen goods.
In court, A. Ka denied the charges against him. He stated that he had never stolen the ox, explaining that he had followed his own herd back to his sheepfold.
“I never intended to steal this ox. When it arrived at my sheepfold, I took it to my home to report it to the village chief. I kept it at my house until I found its owner,” he maintained.
His father, S. Ka, stated that he was not present when his son brought the animal home. "I wasn't aware because I wasn't home. He called me later to inform me," he said.
For his part, the owner of the ox, Mr. Ndiaye, indicated that the animal was permanently tied up on his property and had never left his home to go into the bush. "When I noticed its disappearance, I first searched in the village before mobilizing my relatives to continue the search in the bush," he explained.
According to him, someone told them that the ox had been taken away by individuals from the village of Ndam Lo in a cart. "We went to this village and found the ox at A. Ka's house," he added.
According to the investigation, the police also discovered other animals reported stolen at the defendants' home.
The public prosecutor deemed the defendants guilty of the charges. He requested a two-year sentence, with six months to be served in prison for A. Ka and six months suspended for his father, S. Ka.
The verdict is expected soon.
